2014 Flamingo and Upper Florida Keys Fishing Update

What a year 2014 has been! Big thanks to all my customers that have spent good times on the water with me so far this year. It is the end of June getting into July and I have not had time to make any updates on the site since 2013 due to being swamped with charters. A couple of days off to relax, spend time with my family and catch up with things like making this update to the site is always good.

We are getting into July and the weather for the most part is exactly what you would expect it to be this time of year. Light winds, afternoon thunderstorms and hot as hell! The fishing has been awesome both in the park (Flamingo) and the Upper Florida Keys. Light winds always makes fly fishing much more enjoyable for my clients. This is a great time of year to get out earlier than usual and take advantage of the calm winds and good fishing in the morning before it gets too hot. Tarpon, snook, redfish, bonefish and permit are all on the menu.

My new Hells Bay Professional has made my job putting my clients on fish enjoyable and given me extra confidence when needed. The skiff is incredibly versatile, no matter what I have in mind she gets us to where I want to fish comfortably and fishes like a dream. We have fished most of the local tournaments this year and we have started the year with a couple of awesome wins. I had the pleasure to guide friends Boone and Alison Oughterson to Grand Champion Team at the Backbone Lures 1 Jig Tournament. Angler and friend Alison Oughterson also took Top Female Angler.  Also had the opportunity to guide good friend and angler Tyler Shealey of Castaway Customs to 2014 Jim Bokor Islamorada Spring All Tackle Bonefish Redfish Shoot Out Grand Champion and Largest Bonefish. At the Hells Bay Owners Tournament my angler and friend Kellie Trotta ended up 1st Runner up with 5 snook and 3 redfish on artificial. I always enjoy fishing the tournaments, competing and having the opportunity to win. Looking forward to what the rest of the year has to offer and spending time on the water with my clients and friends!
